D2.0 The Role and Impact of IPv6 in implementing the PN
Abstract
The first part of this document provides an overview of the impacts IPv6 has on MAGNET. The aspects consist of address space, address auto-configuration, neighbour discovery mechanisms, mobility management, etc. The conclusions are drawn from a careful study of the IPv6 protocol in context of the core concepts of MAGNET. The analysis shows both positive and negative impacts of IPv6 on MAGNET. The second part contains an extensive state-of-the-art review on IPv6.

D2.1.1 Conceptual secure PN architecture (Common deliverable with WP4)
Abstract
This deliverable describes the preliminary conceptual secure Personal Network (PN) Architecture in IST project MAGNET. The architecture is composed of abstraction levels covering connectivity at the link layer, networking of devices and nodes at the network layer, and a service abstraction level. The document proposes a number of solutions to achieve secure formation of the wireless bubble around the user and establishment of the PN to support secure access to personal and public services. This deliverable is also the place holder for the project terminology and a number of technical scenarios encompassing most of the challenges expected in the definition of the architecture and in the provision of services for personal networks.

D2.1.2 Overall secure PN architecture (Common deliverable with WP4)
Abstract
This deliverable describes the final overall secure Personal Network (PN) Architecture in IST project MAGNET.

D2.2.1 Resource and service discovery : PN solutions
Abstract
This deliverable addresses the solutions provided by Activity A2.2.1 “Resource and Service Discovery and (R&SD) Characterisation”, within the Task T2.2.1 “Context, Resource and Service Discovery Characterisation” of MAGNET WP2 “Networking and Inter-working”. The deliverable begins with introducing general aspects of R&SD. Then it focuses on identification of requirements of R&SD in MAGNET scenarios, and addressing how the existing solutions fulfil the MAGNET specific requirements. The performed analysis points to the advantages and the problems of the existing solutions in MAGNET framework. Based on the results of analysis, a high-level description of R&SD architecture is provided, and identification of challenges to be made on implementation of R&SD. Later the deliverable provides the MAGNET proposal on Resource and Service discovery in MAGNET, on both PAN and PN extents. Finally, deliverable concludes and the plan of the future work in the activity is provided.

D2.3.1 Ad hoc self organising and routing architecture (Link layer)
Abstract
This deliverable focuses on P-PAN/PN configuration, with regard to Link Level procedures, for example how to incorporate devices to be part of a P-PAN. This leads into issues such as topology forms (and maintenance thereof), ptimisation/energy, as well as consideration of radio links, cross-layer optimisation, linking also to work currently being undertaken within Work Package 3, air interface.

D2.3.2 Ad hoc self organising and routing architecture (NETWORK layer)
Abstract
This deliverable provides self organisation and routing aspects of MAGNET Private-PAN (P-PAN) architecture from the network point of view. The P-PAN is made up of Personal Nodes and Devices with mutual trust relationship around a person. This document describes the procedures of P-PAN establishment and maintenance form device discovery, establishing trust relationship to P-PAN formation. In order to identify Personal Nodes and Devices in the P-PAN, various addressing and naming schemes are provided with detailed analysis and architecture description. In the P-PAN environment, Personal Nodes may need to communicate via multi-hop heterogeneous route. Gateway Nodes need to be supported in the routing schemes to provide connectivity to the other Clusters in the Personal Network (PN) or Foreign Nodes in the Internet. Besides unicast routing, other respects of PPAN routing, such as multicasting, broadcasting and QoS, are also presented in the document.

D2.4.1 Architecture and Protocols for Ad-hoc Self configuration, Interworking, Routing and Mobility
Abstract
This deliverable covers the network layer problems and possible solutions of the MAGNET Personal Networks architecture. It provides a detailed analysis and architectural description of the Personal Network concept from a network point of view, which has resulted into a two-dimensional view. The first dimension analyses the PN based on the PN establishment type, Agent Based or Ad Hoc, whereas the second dimension breaks down the communication types into intra-PN, inter-PN and Foreign Node communication. For all these Personal Network concepts we have identified a number of potential solutions for naming, addressing, routing and mobility management, which form the building blocks needed for providing a complete networking solution for Personal Network organization. This deliverable also provides an extensive overview of the advantages and disadvantages of the proposed solutions and their relation to the state-of-the-art and will therefore form the basis for our research in the second year of the MAGNET project.

D2.4.2 Active Networking: Definition and Validation of Concepts and PN solutions
Abstract
This deliverable is a description of the work carried out in the IST project MAGNET. It describes how the programmable networking paradigm can be used to provide Personal Networks (PN) and the related PN services. It is explained how the so-called plane separation principle, on which the programmable networking is based on, enables modern and flexible network design. The principle allows development of the network node as a collection of independent components using open Application Programming Interfaces (API). These APIs allow fast time to market for component developers, network operators and service providers as well as unprecedented PN services and unforeseen business models.

D2.5.1 Prototype Concepts of a PAN/PN Terminal and Infrastructure-network Support
Abstract
This document collects the key MAGNET concepts from Tasks 1 to 4 to specify an early stage personal network (PN) demonstrator and a prototyping platform. The main aim is to identify and visualise MAGNET concepts through prototyping, enabling also public dissemination. The focus is mostly on illustration of Private Personal Area Networks (P-PAN) and PN concepts with early prototyping based mostly on off-the-shelf components that are adapted and tailored to the project purposes. This document describes also how the demonstrated concepts cope with real world situations. Following a user-centric approach, the main concepts are demonstrated by starting from those related to the P-PAN, closest to the user, and gradually moving from the local environment towards distant nodes in the PN, the remote personal clusters, with infrastructure suppor
